Associations – Business & Intimate Sphere
Our associations are paramount both in business sphere as in personal sphere including intimate sphere. The wrong associations can cost us our self! Specifically, we attract the wrong associations when we are engulfed in self doubt or get carried away by the superficial similarities (shared joke, shared activities, or circles et al) we share with the other.
On the other hand, both, the right life partner and the right business partner can assist us to reach heights which one cannot reach alone, and in turn we play that role for them as well. One becomes the best self that one can be in the company of such a being and they, in turn, do too. Basking in such a light, our moral and ethical standards rise not fall, as do our contributions toward the greater good of humanity. Quality of our being enhances. We rise above our ignoble and animal self.
Kahlil Gibran, was a Lebanese-American writer, poet, and visual artist and 'The Prophet' is my all time favourite works of his (if you have not read it highly recommend it, click 'The Prophet' link to go straight to the pdf), says it best,
“No human relation gives one possession in another — every two souls are absolutely different. In friendship or in love, the two side by side raise hands together to find what one cannot reach alone.” #KahlilGibran
Rumi, a 13th-century Persian Sunni Muslim poet, jurist, Islamic scholar, theologian, and Sufi mystic, am a big fan of. Rumi's influence transcends national borders and ethnic divisions. His poems have been widely translated into many of the world's languages and transposed into various formats. Rumi has been described as the "most popular poet" and the "best selling poet" in the United States.
Rumi has explained it by saying, "one should always be associated with people with a good heart".
Explaining the meaning of ‘Association’ he said:
“A rain drop from the sky: if it is caught by clean hands, is pure enough for drinking. If it falls in the gutter, its value drops so much that it can’t be used even for washing your feet. If it falls on a hot surface, it will evaporate... If it falls on a lotus leaf, it shines like a pearl and finally, if it falls on an oyster, it becomes a pearl...The drop is the same, but its existence & worth depends on whom it is associated with.” #Rumi
Always be associated with people who are good at heart, you will experience your own inner transformation.
These according to me are the characteristics of a “good hearted person”:
1. generosity - someone who shares positive vibes, joy and their treasures with others.
2. shows appreciation when someone does something nice for them, something as simple as holding open a door to a store;
3. makes an effort to build up people, finding within others their inherent goodness
4. trustworthy - their word is their bond. If they tell you they will do something for you, you can count on them to follow through on their promise.
5. non-judgmental attitude toward others
