Health – Your Primary Asset, Invest In It
“Health is Wealth”, goes the ancient adage and not for nothing.
“Eating Healthy vs. Unhealthy Will Cost You $550 More Per Year, Study Reveals. In a meta-review of 27 studies in 10 countries, researchers publishing in the British Medical Journal found that meats and proteins had the largest price differences, with healthier options costing an average $0.29 more per serving than less healthy options. Other categories such as snacks/sweets and grains also cost more for healthier options, at $0.12 and $0.03 respectively. No significant price differences were seen between healthier and less healthy soda and juices.”
“According to a 2013 UCS report, The $11 Trillion Dollar Reward, increasing our consumption of fruits and vegetables could save more than 100,000 lives and $17 billion in health care costs from heart disease each year.”
Of course, good health means you can live your life with more vitality, filled with zeal and enjoy it to the hilt. Good health is not limited to your physical being, it incorporates mental and spiritual health too. Howard Huges life is testimonial warning us of one’s lack of investment in one’ health. Btw, “The Life, Legend, and Madness of Howard Hughes” makes a good read if you enjoy reading. Plenty to take away from his life both as inspiration on what you should aspire for in your life and warning on what not to do with your life.
And as a Karate Black belt, Yoga teacher and Athletics State-level Champion that have been am twice as strong an advocate of good health.
Here is my health ritual that has stood by me:
1. Start your day early in the morning. Am out of bed at 4:30 AM. Before jumping out of bed I thank the Infinite Intelligence for all the abundance I have been blessed with, yup even when all is topsy-tubby in my life. I also come up with at least 5 things am thankful for right now – gratitude list. Here is an Appreciation Tool to get you started. This reminds me to stay in the present moment and am 200% in the awareness zone. In fact, 2:30 to 4:30 AM is my most creative period of the day. I spend it either writing, creating something or invest in building new interactions in the virtual world. And as am working on my creative piece, a chapter from the Quran is played in the background on very low volume. Research shows vibrations of sounds produced while reciting verses rewires human nervous system positively. Similarly, the vibration produced by A-U-M have an enhancing impact on human body.
2. The next thing after freshening up I do is treat my body with warm glass of water with lime juice added to it (natural juice not the synthetic one). The glass holds 1 L of water. This completely energies me.
3. Between 4:45 and 5:00 AM I review my plan for the day, take notes on all important conversations I need to have and prioritise the should have conversations over the must have ones.
4. Between 5:00 and 5:30 AM I have either done Yoga including meditation, or rebounding to energising music, or swim, or stretching exercises to energising music, or tennis. See how I have identified at least 5 different ways to work out. It’s important so that you don’t feel stuck doing the same thing.
5. 5:30 to 6:00 AM, I do Priming (10 minutes) and DRT (20 minutes). If you want to understand these Mindset Strategies see this video which has links to 2 other strategies in its description.
6. 6:00 to 6:15 AM bath. Start with 3 seconds of cold water and then lukewarm.
7. 6:15 to 6:30 AM i invest in prayers – Namaz, Quran recitation and then rapping it up with a thank you list. When do I ask for all that I need taken care of, in my priming session.
I believe in Oneness. It really does not matter to me what your belief system is, we are #OneFamily #OneWorld, we all are related in blood as we all go back to Adam n Eve. So when i refer to Namaz or Quran, it only means that spend at least 15 minutes in the presence of whichever your belief system is. If it interests you have done a study on comparative religions, the similarities will blow you away, read it here - Faith . Like Thomas Edison i believe in The Infinite Intelligence, #Oneness, #Spirituality not in godmen, not in clergies, not in people who create god fearing humans. May the force with with us all.
8. Between 6:30 and 7:00 AM I read something new, acquire new knowledge.
9. 7:00 AM to 8:00 AM Food - I cook myself breakfast – wheatgrass, udos, green juice / fruit smoothie, turmeric hot water drink (turmeric, lemon juice, black pepper) and a vegetable lentil wrap. I also pack my lunch – salad (between 12 and 1:00 PM), nuts (eat at 11 AM) and a fruit (I eat at 3 PM). Dinner at 6 PM – generally a soup + wrap. Green tea at 9 PM. I zag on Saturdays and Sundays i.e. eat a pizza, ice-creams, hot chocolates, try cooking new cuisines and relish them.
I have never had drink alcohol and will never. In fact, no addictions of any kind. Because I fully understand how it damages human nervous system.
10. 8:00 AM I leave for office after having watered my plants in the garden reaching office at 8:30 AM
11. 8:30 to 9:00 I have made those very very important calls to the V.V.I.P clients/customers/potential clients/ business associates/ vendors.
12. 9:00 AM onwards the business day kicks start. Now the world gets my attention.
13. Between 4:30 and 5:30 PM, for 30 minutes I go for a walk, in nature with music. This helps clear the stress of the day, come up with creative solutions for problems and relax.
14. I sleep generally by 11:30 PM.
